Ontario Releases Technology and Standards for Digital Identity

The Ontario government has released  technology and standards for use in the province’s digital ID system. The standards aim to support Ontario’s secure online services. The system envisages adoption of a digital ID system to facilitate identification authentication of people accessing services online. Key principles in the standards include compliance with government and industry standards, frameworks and laws; alignment with emerging technology standards; interoperability and open standards. The digital ID will be launched in late 2021.
