NHS to partner with tech companies to fight against misinformation on coronavirus

The UK National Health Service (NHS) announced initiatives to lead people to the NHS information about the coronavirus outbreak by partnering with Google, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. People will be directed to verified guidance developed by the NHS when they search for terms that are related to coronavirus on Google. Also, Google will begin to display ‘Knowledge Panels’, pop-out boxes of information from the NHS when people access the search engine on their mobile phones to look up information about health conditions. Thus far, the NHS, in a partnership with Twitter, had suspended an account disguised as a hospital, inaccurately stating that it had admitted coronavirus patients, according to a report on Financial Times.
