New York launches digital vaccine passport
The State of New York, USA launched a digital COVID-19 vaccine passport, becoming the first state to roll out a digital vaccine passport in the country. The pass, called Excelsior Pass, lets users store their vaccine certificate and negative COVID-19 test. Businesses can download a scanner app to read QR codes. The pass will help individuals gain entry to theaters, stadiums, arenas, wedding receptions, and other social gatherings in New York. major venues like Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden and the Times Union Center in Albany have already registered interest. Excelsior was developed in collaboration with IBM and is powered by IBM’s DIgital Health Pass solution.
