New study reveals the economic impact of rural broadband
The Hudson Institute has released a new report entitled The Economic Impact of Rural Broadband. The study estimates the direct and indirect economic effects of broadband in rural areas on GDP and other industries in the USA in 2015. The main findings include:
- Rural broadband companies contributed to 24.1 billion USD to the economies of the states where they operated
- The rural broadband industry’s effects also serve urban areas
- The rural broadband industry supported almost 70,000 jobs
- Rural broadband supported more than 100 billion USD in e-commerce
