New data regulation In Shenzhen
New data regulation for the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, the first of its kind in China, was passed by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress. It will enter into effect on 1 January 2022 and will govern data processing, data sharing, establish requirements for data security and data management by personal information processors, and address data ownership, among others. According to Technode, ‘China is writing a rule book for data that will shape the tech industry and could be a model for governments worldwide. Shenzhen’s regulation is likely to set a pattern for other regions and national rules, experts said.’
