Netsweeper software used for censorship in Bahrain

A report  from Citizen Lab in at the University of Toronto, ‘Tender Confirmed, Rights At Risk: Verifying Netsweeper in Bahrain‘ found that the developer, Netsweeper, sold software to Bahrain that facilitates the very severe limits on online expression and high levels of Internet censorship in the country. The report details how the software functions, and highlights concerns about human rights violations. The report also raises the question of corporate responsibility in software development.
