Most powerful commercial broadband satellite launched into orbit

Viasat has launched its new satellite Viasat-2 that will increase capacity of its predecessor twofold allowing more than 300 Gbps. The satellite will operate above Americas and the Atlantic Ocean and will provide broadband connectivity for airline and maritime routes. It is expected the airline passengers will experience significantly better Internet connection reaching speed up to 12 Mbps per seat. For example this would allow streaming HD video on Netflix. Viasat already started preparations on its next gen satellite Viasat-3 that should offer speed of 1Tbps and operate also above Europe.
