Moroccan Parliament approves AU Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection
Morocco’s House of Councillors has approved various bills, the African Union Convention on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection, also known as the Malabo Convention, among them. The Convention provides for a harmonised data protection framework in Africa as well as for cross-border cyber cooperation mechanisms. Once ratified, Morocco will become the ninth country to approve the convention, bringing it closer to effect. The convention requires 15 ratifications in order to come into effect.
