More than 320 million domain names currently registered in the world
A Global TLD Stat Report from CENTR shows that there are 323.1 million domain names currently registered across all top level domains, an increase of 3.75% over the first quarter (Q1) of 2016. Country code top level domains (ccTLDs) registered the largest growth in Q1 (2.6%), while registrations in new generic top level domains (gTLDs) grew from 11 million to almost 16 million domains. According to the report, the largest ccTLDs worldwide are .cn (China), .de (Germany), .uk (United Kingdom), .nl (Netherlands), and .ru (Russian Federation). The top five new gTLDs are .xyz, .top, .win, .wang, and .club.
