Mobile big data to facilitate the realisation of sustainable development goals
A recent study published by GSMA together with PwC entitled ‘Mobile Big Data Solutions for a Better Future’ underscores the role of mobile big data (MBD) in the realisation of sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030. To illustrate, it highlights that around 150 million individuals could be positively affected by MBD solutions with regard to public project effectiveness within the next five years. The report establishes ‘first-of-a-kind framework’ that explores the potential of MBD on cities, infrastructure, economic growth; climate change and environment; managing disasters; health and education; and citizen inclusion. The study also maps out seven principles necessary for applying MBD for social good such as consistency, uniqueness, authenticity, and responsibility.
