Microsoft uses IP claims to bring down Trickbot botnet

Microsoft took down the servers behind Trickbot, an enormous malware network used to launch other cyberattacks, including a strain of highly potent ransomware. Microsoft said it obtained a federal court order to disable the IP addresses associated with Trickbot's servers, and worked with telecom providers around the world to dismantle the network.

Microsoft formed an international group of industry and telecommunications providers - Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) to proceed against Trickbot and used for the first time in legal strategy copyright claims against Trickbot’s malicious use of Microsoft’s software code.
