Microsoft uses IP claims to bring down Trickbot botnet
Microsoft took down the servers behind Trickbot, an enormous malware network used to launch cyber-attacks, including a strain of highly potent ransomware. Microsoft said it obtained a federal court order to disable IP addresses associated with Trickbot’s servers, and worked with telecommunications providers worldwide to dismantle the network.
Microsoft formed an international group of industry and telecommunications providers – Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) – to target Trickbot using copyright claims for the first time in legal strategy against Trickbot’s malicious use of Microsoft’s software code.
