Microsoft Edge has added an extra layer of protection when visiting unfamiliar websites. The enhanced security mode disables the just-in-time (JIT) Javascript compilations and enables additional operating system protections for the browser. It is thus more difficult for malicious sites to attack the user.
It provides three levels of protection: basic, balanced, and strict. The basic mode applies security protection to less visited websites. The balanced mode protects unfamiliar sites and builds upon the user’s browsing behaviour. The strict mode applies security protections to all websites by default. However, it may require some level of configuration when completing normal tasks.
