May 9: White House Chief Telecom Adviser resigns

David Redl, US National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) chief resigned suddenly on Thursday having led the NTIA since November 2017. The NTIA operates within the Department of Commerce and is responsible for advising the White House on telecom policy. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai lauded David’s work and praised his advocacy for the repurposing of federal spectrum and encouragement of the private sector leading 5G deployment. The NTIA has confirmed that Diane Rinaldo, Redl’s deputy will be acting administrator in the interim.
