Jordan restores power after major outage which affected internet access

According to a news report, authorities in Jordan have been able to restore electrical power in the country after a major outage which affected several households and businesses including access to the internet. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati in a press briefing on Friday 21 May, 2021 attributed the cause of the electricity blackout to a technical fault in the Jordanian-Egyptian electricity interconnection system, which engineers have managed to resolve. Internet access was also down across several Internet Service Provider (ISPs) and cellular networks impeding connectivity for individuals and businesses and affecting students who learn remotely.
