JD.com aiming to adopt emerging technologies in e-commerce

On the 30th anniversary of JD.com, China’s second-largest e-commerce player after Alibaba, the company’s chairman and chief executive announced the wide adoption of emerging technologies. He mentioned that China is on the eve of a “fourth retail revolution” and, in this context, JD e-commerce platform will adopt a range of new technologies ranging from artificial intelligence, the use of drones for delivery, automatic checkout through facial recognition and smart refrigerators that can automatically place orders to replenish fresh food at customers’ homes.
