Japan, China and other countries present a paper on e-commerce at the WTO

Japan, China and other countries that have put forward a paper about the e-commerce at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) (JOB/GC/138). They express agreement with the creation of a working group on e-commerce – a proposal advanced by a significant number of countries – and argue that this WG should conduct an evaluation of whether the clarification or strengthening of the existing WTO rules is necessary. Based on the results of this evaluation, member states could decide to start negotiations on e-commerce in 2019.
