Japan among the countries targeted with regionalised spam email campaigns aimed to deliver malware, says Symantec

During the past few months, Symantec has announced several times that it had observed regionalised spam email campaigns used deliver malware. After Brazil and India, Symantec has recently noticed a similar spam campaign targeted at users in Japan. Users receive spam emails that claim to be from entities in their country (like online shopping sites, postal services, and financial institutions), in an attempt to trick the users into opening the malware infected attachments. The security company says that the malware distributed through this campaign is aimed at monitoring and stealing information from compromised computers.
