Israel Health Ministry launched a new app to fight coronavirus

The Israeli Health Ministry created a new open code app aimed at stopping the spread of coronavirus. The app identifies all contacts between patients with confirmed infections and other people during a period of 14 days prior to diagnosis. The app keeps track of the users’ location and cross-checks it with the current epidemiological information of the health ministry about the spread of the virus. In case of any exposure to a person with a confirmed infection, the app will alert users and instruct them on how to report to the Health Ministry if they wish to do so. The Health Ministry, as well as leading privacy and security experts in Israel, argue that the app is safe and secure and doesn’t violate users’ privacy.
