India’s Rajasthan State suspends mobile internet to prevent cheating in teachers’ exam

According to a news report, the state of Rajasthan in India suspended mobile internet services on Sunday 26 September 27, 2021 during the conduct of the Rajasthan Eligibility Exam for Teachers (REET) 2021. REET 2021 was organized to recruit some 31000 Grade 3 teachers in the state. Authorities justified the blackout as a measure to prevent cheating during the examinations. The outage which affected mobile internet services and other services including social media and bulk SMS/MMS services lasted from 6am to 6pm on Sunday and directly affected some five districts in the state.
