Indian traders body file complaint against Amazon and other retailers

The Indian traders body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has filed a complaint with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion alleging that major retailers Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal are breaching foreign direct investment (FDI) rules in India. While the companies are allowed to carry out business-to-business trade, they cannot engage with consumers. The companies are therefore allegedly undertaking business transactions which go against FDI rules, despite the significant developments related to FDI and e-commerce in India.
