Indian high court rules indefinite suspension of Internet services illegal

In case of the ongoing Internet shutdown in Kashmir, India’s Supreme Court said ‘indefinite’ suspension of Internet services would be illegal under Indian law. While the court did not order restoring Internet access, it has given the Indian government a week to review the shutdown. The Kashmir region’s Internet shutdown is in place since 5 August 2019 and affects about 7 million people.
