India: Public consultation on national blockchain strategy
In January, the Ministry of Electronics and IT in India released its draft national blockchain strategy for public consultation. The strategy proposes that various public services and initiatives such as land records and healthcare can operate on a blockchain platform. It recommends that the government create a legal and regulatory framework for the adoption of blockchain technology and invest in capacity building on blockchain research and innovation to compete with other nations. For scaling the technology, the strategy recommends the implementation of scaling deployments, shared infrastructure, and cross domain applications. Commentary was due by 16 February.
