India to launch digital health ID
Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi has announced a national health identity card that will digitise health record management. This is part of the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM)where every registered Indian would get an ID card containing all relevant information about their medical conditions, history, and treatment. NDHM aspires for universal healthcare in line with the SDGs. It comprises six digital systems: HealthID, DigiDoctor, Health Facility Registry, Personal Health Records, e-Pharmacy & Telemedicine. The government will be in charge of functions such as authentication and approval of health facilities and private parties can access parts of the system.
