India to introduce AI as an optional subject in secondary education

According to media reports, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India has decided to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) as an optional subject for students in the eighth, ninth and tenth grades. The decision was taken following consultation with schools and other stakeholders, and is intended to help students develop technical skills and knowledge for the future of work. The CBSE will develop the syllabus for the new subject and also plans to assist schools in developing their capacities to teach AI starting from the next school year.
