IEEE Standards Association announces three new AI initiatives

The Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standards Associations has announced three new initiatives in the field of data and artificial intelligence (AI). The IEEE Global Artificial Intelligence Systems (AIS) Well-being Initiative is dedicated to providing AIS creators and end users the resources, knowledge, and tools needed to help safeguard and improve human well-being and ecological sustainability through their AIS creations. The IEEE Applied AIS Risk and Impact Framework Initiative will develop a proposal for an applied risk framework or assessment for AIS. In doing so, it will consider existing risk approaches in fields such as finance and cybersecurity, identify gaps introduced by AI, and determine how to create a fit-for-purpose applied assessment for AI to determine the level of risk and identify approaches to mitigate that risk. The IEEE Trusted Data & AIS Playbook for Finance Initiative will work on curating, summarising, and contextualising trusted data and AI best practices for the financial sector around design principles, standards, and certifications. The three initiatives are open to all interested parties.
