ICC and Mastercard partner on digital health passport

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Mastercard announced that they will work together to create an environment that encourages the development and proliferation of interoperable digital health pass solutions to accelerate the global economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The two organisations will collaborate to establish an enabling environment for digital health pass technologies that reduce fraud and reinforce trust. They noted that no single digital solution, or provider, will be able to scale globally fast enough to address the needs for the air travel industry. The ICC and Mastercard will work with policymakers and business leaders to ensure that governments have a range of options for compatible digital health pass solutions to boost their recovery while protecting personal data of users. The work will also include the promotion of digital standards for the management and exchange of COVID-19 test results and vaccine certificates, with a focus on the ethical use of digital identity that fosters trust.
