ICANN concludes agreements with RIRs and IETF for the provision of IANA services

ICANN and the Regional Internet Registries (the organisations that manage the allocation of Internet number resources – Internet protocol (IP) addresses and autonomous system (AS) numbers – within a particular region of the world) signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for the IANA numbering services, during the ICANN 56 meeting. The SLA sets out the arrangements for the provision, by ICANN, of IANA numbering services, after the IANA stewardship transition takes place. The agreement will enter into force at the time of the transition. ICANN also finalised the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Supplemental Agreement with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for the performance of the protocol parameters functions. The two documents are part of the requirements of the IANA Stewardship Transition package of proposals, and they will enter into force on the date of the transition.
