ICANN Board submits to the US Government the plan to transition stewardship of key Internet functions

The ICANN Board has submitted to the US Government the plan to transition stewardship of key Internet functions. This includes the IANA stewardship transition proposal and the final report on enhancing ICANN accountability. Both proposals were submitted by the Board in the exact form received from the two ICANN community working groups that have developed them. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will review the plan to ensure that it complies with the criteria it has previously established. If NTIA approves the plan, this is expected to be implemented before the expiration of the contract between NTIA and ICANN in September 2016.
