Hospital targeted by cyber-criminals

Ransomware, a piece of malware that encrypts the entire content of a computer or a network and allows decryption only after a ransom is paid to attackers, was injected by criminals to a hospital system in Los Angeles. According to ZDNet, the attack affected the emergency rooms and treatments, as well as the internal and external communications. In order to get back the access to patient data, the hospital had to pay over 16,000USD in BitCoins to an unknown group of criminals.
