Google to launch Google Home later this year

Google plans to launch (later this year) a voice-activated home product – called Google Home – that would allow users to ‘get answers from Google, stream music, and manage everyday tasks’. As described by The Verge, the product is no more than ‘a small speaker you plug into the wall with always-listening, far-field microphones that can hear you from across the room. It’ll answer your questions, play your music, and control some of your home automation gadgets.’ As a start, Google Home is intended to work with a small set of home automation devices (such as thermostats and lights).
