Google finalises Fitbit acquisition
Fitbit’s CEO James Park announced that Fitbit officially became part of Google. He stressed in the statement that Fitbit will maintain strong data privacy and security protections, as regulators around the world have scrutinised the deal since it was proposed in November 2019. Google has made a series of binding commitments with regulators and confirmed that Fitbit users’ health and wellness data will not be used for Google ads, and such sensitive data will be kept separate from other Google ad data.
