Google faces €500 million fine for not negotiating in good faith with publishers

French antitrust authority fined Google €500 million for failing to negotiate in a good faith a deal with publishers to have their content on the platform. The French authorities alleged that Google ignored a 2020 order from French regulators to reach an agreement with publishers to use part of their content in search results. Google has up to 60 days to present new ideas for compensating news publishers or risk facing fines up to one million euros per day.
