Global Cryptocurrency Benchmarking Study

The University of Cambridge recently published the in depth report entitled “Global Cryptocurrency Benchmarking Study.” This report is providing interesting observations and statistics regarding to the Cryptocurrency issues. The research is based on non-public data from 114 cryptocurrency organizations and individual miners in 38 countries globally. It is conducted by Cambridge University Judge Business School’s Centre for Alternative Finance.

Some of the highlights from report are:

  • The current number of unique active users of cryptocurrency wallets is estimated to be between 2.9 million and 5.8 million.
  • At least 1,876 people are working full-time in the cryptocurrency industry,
  • 52% of small exchanges hold a formal government license compared to only 35% of large exchanges.
