Ghana’s Minister for Communications: the government is not considering a ban on OTT services
The Minister for Communications of Ghana has recently declared that the country’s government is not considering a ban on Over the Top (OTT) services. The statement came in the context of vivid discussions within the country on whether Voice over IP (VoIP) services such as Whatsapp, Skype, and Vibe should be banned or regulated. Such discussions were initiated by telecom companies in Ghana, which, according to Global Voices, would want the National Communications Authority to restrict subscribers from using VoIP services.
