Ghana conducts elections relying on biometric tech

Ghana conducted presidential and parliamentary elections which relied on biometric technology, including facial recognition for voter identification. Voter identification was linked to the national digital ID system, GhanaCard and voter registers were published online. However, election observers noted a rise in misinformation online, calling for electoral institutions to assure the integrity of the election. The Ghana Election Commission has put out press statements to counter information circulating online. The commission has also stated that it will preserve election data in case the result is contested.
