Germany and China preparing a cybersecurity agreement

In context of implementing the Chinese “Made in China 2025” and the German “Industry 4.0” strategies, the two countries are discussing a possible agreement for data security. These manufacturing industry strategies foresee the introduction of advanced digital technologies and thus the exponential increase in industrial data flows, the German Ambassador to China explained. The cooperation builds up on the meeting between German Chancellor Angel Merkel and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in October 2015, that has set up the basis for the bilateral cybersecurity agreement focusing on preventing cyber-espionage and responding jointly to cyber-incidents, expected to be reached in June 2016.
