German competition authority starts investigation against Apple

The Federal Cartel Office (FCO) in Germany announced it has started an investigation into whether Apple is exploiting its marketing position. The focus of the investigation will be the App Store which is considered a threat to the competition laws of the country. According to the FCO, Apple uses its store to influence the operations of third parties. Moreover, complaints include the fact that Apple gives itself preferential treatment by pre-installing its own applications. Apple has become the fourth major tech company to face investigation from the FCO.
