Geo-blocking widely used in Europe

The European Commission’s first findings of a sector inquiry on e-commerce reveal the widespread use of geo-blocking. In Europe, 38% of retailers selling various consumers goods use geo-blocking, while 68% of providers geo-block their users (of which 59% is at the demand of suppliers). This inquiry will serve as a basis for further investigations on anti-competitive practices, and for work related to a revision of the regulatory framework in this area.
