First Annual STI Forum concludes in New York
The First annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) took place from 6-7 June in the UN Headquarters in New York and was convened by ECOSOC President Oh Joon. The sessions focused on a wide range of issues, including creating an enabling environment for STI, realising the potential of STI for the SDGs, creating shared value, and creating a roadmap of effective policy frameworks. Oh Joon concluded that we need ‘to strengthen STI capacity in every country, create innovative knowledge societies…, make advances that greatly facility technology transfer and diffusion, and support social technologies to change mindsets and behaviors.’ The Forum will feed into the work of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which will take place in July.
