FCC Speed Test app to help close the digital divide

The Federal Communications Commission has released a Speed Test app to close the digital divide. The app is expected to help map broadband availability and speeds across the country. The data gathered from the app is anonymized and transferred to the FCC to help compile accurate information on internet access in households in the U.S. On the basis of the collected data, the FCC will then help identify problem areas, ultimately contributing to equal access to the internet for everyone. The app is available via iOS and Android.
