Facebook, WhatsApp to face taskforce over data sharing
The pan-European data regulator, the Article 29 Working Party (WP29), has set up a taskforce to tackle concerns over user data sharing by Facebook and WhatsApp. Last year, the regulator issued a warning to WhatsApp over its sharing of data with Facebook, and asked it to pause the transfer of data. Earlier this year, the European Commission fined Facebook €110 million for giving misleading or incorrect information during the Commission’s 2014 vetting of its deal to acquire WhatsApp.
