Facebook services restricted in Bangladesh amid anti-Modi protests

According to a report by Netblocks, authorities in Banglesh restricted the internet in the country leading to a disruption to major social media applications such as Facebook and Facebook Messenger lasting from the evening of Friday 26th March 2021 to Monday 29th March 2021. The restrictions came amidst anti-Modi protests, whilst the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bangladesh to join the country as they marked 50 years of independence. According to the report, there were violent clashes between security forces and the protesters who accused Modi’s Hindu Nationalist Party of intolerance.
