Facebook to launch German news portal in May

Facebook will launch its news portal from May. The service will offer articles from more than 100 current German media outlets, including the national publisher Die Zeit and Der Spiegel to regional publications like the Rheinische Post. However, the portal will not include important publishers such as Axel Springer, which publishes one of the most popular titles, including the Die Welt. Axel Springer is out of the deal allegedly because of the low payments Facebook is offering. The publisher said it supports an European copyright regime that allows all media companies to receive reasonable remuneration for their content.
