Facebook and Microsoft will lay a giant cable across the Atlantic
Facebook and Microsoft announced a plan to build a subsea cable between USA and Europe. The project named Marea would bridge more than 6600 kilometres between Virginia (USA) and Bilbao (Spain). An initial estimated design capacity of 160Tbps would make it the highest capacity link across the Atlantic. The project underpins a recent trend of massive investments of software and Internet giants in the telecommunications infrastructure, informs Wired.
