Facebook advocates for data portability law protecting users’ privacy

In comments sent to the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Facebook has publicly supported the introduction of a new legislation in the USA that will make users’ data transfer across platforms easier, while respecting user privacy. According to Reuters, data portability is already a requirement under the EU’sGDPR and the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA). Facebook stated that the Access Act, a legislation proposed in the US Senate would constitute a good first step.
