European Parliament adopts Annual Report on Competition Policy

According to a news report, the Annual Report on Competition Policy presented by Renew Europe Group has been adopted by the European Parliament. The policy which was originally scheduled to be voted on in March 2020, was exceptionally amended again to take into account the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic’.  According to the report, the COVID-19 pandemic exposed the limitations in terms of strategic autonomy and sovereignty for the EU. Renew Europe’s Vice-Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and rapporteur on the resolution, Stéphanie Yon-Courtin, stated after the vote: ‘Competition policy will play a major role in achieving a Green, Digital and Resilient Europe, in combination with other sectoral policy such as the Industrial Strategy, trade policy and consumer protection’.
