European Commission proposes new tax rules on e-commerce and online businesses

The European Commission has proposed new rules for Value Added Tax (VAT) on e-commerce in the EU. The proposal includes the introduction of a One Stop Shop for VAT payments, leading to a reduction of VAT compliance costs, which is expected to save businesses €2.3 billion a year. Furthermore, the new measures would allow member states to apply the same VAT on e-publications as on their printed equivalents.
