EU staff unaware of Microsoft data collection practices

According to the acting head of the European Data protection Supervisor (EDPS), the staff working across the EU institutions are “not aware” of the extent to which the US tech firm Microsoft collects and stores their data as part of the use of their products. Wojciech Wiewiórowski presented to Euractiv its concerns in relation to the way Microsoft collects and stores data of EU officials, indicating for instance that there is no set framework for the examination of compliance with standards and practices. The EDPS signaled it would soon present a set of guidelines concerning the necessary revisions that need to be made to the contractual agreements with Microsoft.
