EU report: unequal progress towards a Digital Single Market
The European commission has released a report on the digital performance of EU Member States. The report shows that Member States ‘are at very different stages in the development of the digital economy’. The report focuses on the indicators of connectivity, human capital, the use of Internet by citizens and business, digital public services and the ICT sector. The Commission furthermore published a new international index (I-DESI), which compares the digital performance of EU Member States with 15 non-EU countries. The results indicate that ‘top European performers also lead globally, but Europe as a whole has room for improvement.’
