EU opens 3rd antitrust charge against Google

EU regulators have accused Google of blocking its competitors in online advertising. According to Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, ‘Google has come up with many innovative products that made a difference to our lives. But that doesn’t give Google the right to deny other companies the chance to compete and innovate.’ The European Commission has previously charged Google with two other cases in which it would hinder competition. The EU investigations have caused some friction with the U.S., which accuses Europe of ‘veering toward protectionism’.
